Harald Trass

My name is Harald Trass, and I am studying classical guitar at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln in Germany. I am currently in my fifth semester. I have been exposed to classical music since early childhood, as both of my parents are musicians, and classical music was constantly playing at home.

At the age of eight, I began my guitar studies at Nõmme Music School. I started taking guitar playing more seriously at the age of eleven, and at fourteen, I continued my studies at Tallinn Music High School. In addition to classical guitar, I am also involved in composition, creating music with an electroacoustic guitar.

I began my guitar studies in 2010 at Nõmme Music School under the guidance of Martin Kööp. From 2016 to 2021, I continued my studies at Tallinn Music High School with Vahur Kubja and Kirill Ogorodnikov. In 2021, I started my university studies in Germany at the Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln under the tutelage of Professor Gerhard Reichenbach.

I have attended masterclasses with many renowned guitarists, such as Roberto Aussel, Rémi Boucher, and Dale Kavanagh. I have performed both in ensembles and as a soloist with orchestras, and I have also given solo concerts in Germany.

I have won several awards in guitar competitions, including: Best Young Instrumentalist 2018 – 1st place;  Vilnius International Guitar Competition 2020 – 3rd place; Baltic Guitar Competition 2019 – 1st place; Internationales Wettbewerb Jüchen 2023 – 3rd place; Lions Club Competition HfMT Köln 2024.

In 2024, I was selected for the LIFT mentorship programme organised by Eesti Kontsert.
