The museum's mission is to research, collect, preserve and communicate the history of Tallinn. The museum makes the stories of the people who have lived here over the ages - the citizens of the city - audible and visible, tells the story of a changing urban culture and provides a meeting place to reflect on urban culture and dream of a better city. The Tallinn City Museum consists of seven branches with distinct stories, working closely and creatively together to offer an experience for different visitor groups. In 2019, the museum will have seven branches with different specialities.

A curatorial lesson can be booked for exhibitions either with a museum ticket for a minimum of 10 people or for a minimum price of €80

Exhibitions at the City Museum

The Tallinn City Museum invites you to visit two exhibitions on health-related topics in two locations: the exhibition on sexual health and prostitution "Tallinn without sound" is open in the Tallinn City Life Museum and the exhibition on mental health "Metapsychic Tallinn" is open in the Väravatorni

Both exhibitions offer 1.5-hour guided tours (not recommended for children), with a sex tour taking you to prostitution-related sites and a walk with ghosts introducing you to the scary places in Tallinn that are said to be haunted. In October-November, the final performances of this season, Layers of Soul, will be staged in the Gatehouse.
