The invention was born out of practical need. We had long watched on the internet and on TV how masters in the USA make knives with beltgrinders. Since we had a knife instinct, we made our first machine ourselves. The very first Lihvus was made from readily available materials, and kept changing as new ideas and needs arose. The machine surprised us with its extraordinary efficiency, and the idea was born to share it with others in Estonia and abroad.
