Details and guidelines for ENLIGHT T&L Conference presenters

We are delighted to welcome you to the upcoming ENLIGHT T&L Conference 2024 at the University of Tartu. As the event approaches, we would like to share some essential information and instructions to ensure a smooth and successful experience for everyone involved.

Important to know:
To enhance networking opportunities, please take a moment to update your job title and include your discipline in your profile—this will help facilitate meaningful connections during the conference.

Please note that parts of the conference will be broadcast, including the opening ceremony, the keynote speeches, the Teaching & Learning Award ceremony, and all presentations and workshops held in room 139 of the University of Tartu main building.

Instructions for presenters:
All presenters are required to upload their presentations to the OnlineExpo platform by 25 September.
To log in, go to the Attendee Area and enter the credentials provided in your registration confirmation email.

Presentations can be in PowerPoint or PDF format. If your presentation is interactive (e.g., Canva, Adobe Spark, Prezi, etc.), please upload a PDF (as this is a required field) and include a link to the interactive presentation.

Poster displays are organised into conference sessions and will be shown on digital screens. A 16:9 widescreen format is typically used, with a common size of 1920 x 1080 pixel full HD.

You are expected to be present by your poster during your assigned session to engage with attendees. Please ensure your digital poster is in landscape orientation, as portrait posters will not display correctly. Posters can be submitted in PDF format or as interactive digital posters, aligning with the conference theme. You may use tools such as Canva, PowerPoint, Adobe Spark, or Prezi to create your poster.

Timing for sessions:

  • Presentations: You’ll have 10 minutes for the presentation, followed by 20 minutes for questions. The total time for each presentation, including speaker transitions, is 30 minutes.
  • Poster presentations: You’ll have three minutes to give a brief overview of your poster, followed by nine minutes for a Q&A session.
  • Workshops: These will last either 50 or 75 minutes, focusing on interaction and teamwork. The facilitator will encourage participants to collaborate and share their experiences. Start with a brief introduction, but ensure that most of the time is dedicated to interactive activities. The room is equipped with movable tables, flipcharts, markers, and paper.
  • Roundtable discussions: Each participant will provide a brief, informal presentation (also possible to make a mini poster about your main idea) at your table, followed by a discussion. Each roundtable session lasts 20 minutes (5 minutes for presenting and 15 minutes for discussion). This process is repeated three times as attendees rotate between tables. The room is equipped with movable tables, flipcharts, markers, and paper.

Getting ready:

Please arrive at your session at least 5 minutes early. Check in with the session chairs and sit near the front to ensure smooth transitions between speakers. During a break before your session, please check that your slides and videos work properly with the conference’s projection system. If you encounter any issues, our on-site technician will be available to assist. All rooms are equipped with an overhead projector, PC, and speakers. If you prefer to use your laptop for your presentation, please ensure it has an HDMI port (or mini-HDMI, USB-C, DisplayPort (mini or micro), or VGA-analogue port) for output.

Note: If you cannot attend in person and need to present online, please inform us as soon as possible at enlight2024tartu@ut.ee.

Recommendations for remote presentations (posters, workshops, presentations):

To ensure smooth virtual presentations, it is recommended to record your presentation beforehand, including posters, slides, and audio-visual examples. You can use Zoom, Microsoft Teams, or other recording tools. Please add your recorded presentation link to the OnlineExpo platform by 25 September 2024. However, even if the presentation is pre-recorded, the discussions will take place live online.

Testing for online presentations and detailed instructions on how to connect to the conference web space will be provided one week before the event. If you have any questions or encounter problems with recording your presentation or joining the conference web space, please contact us at enlight2024tartu@ut.ee in advance, and we will work together to find a suitable solution.
