Eneken Laanes

Professor of Comparative Literature, Tallinn University

Eneken Laanes is Professor of Comparative Literature at Tallinn University and head of the research project "Memory and Environment: The Intersection of Fast and Slow Violence in Transnational European Literatures" (2025–2029). In 2020-2024, she led the ERC project "Translating Memories: The Eastern European Past in the Global Arena" (2020–2024). She is the founding Director of the international MA Programme Literature, Visual Culture and Film Studies.  

Her research interest include transnational memory, trauma studies, post-socialist memory cultures in Central and Eastern Europe, the historical novel, critical theory and cultural analysis, contemporary (translingual) literature and visual history.
