Ülo Kaasik is the Deputy Governor of Eesti Pank, overseeing the preparation and implementation of monetary policy decisions and economic research. His responsibilities also include managing cash circulation, reserve management, IT infrastructure development, and central bank operations.
In addition to his role at Eesti Pank, Ülo Kaasik is a member of the International Monetary Fund's Nordic-Baltic Constituency's Financial and Monetary Committee. Since 2014, he has also served on the Fiscal Councils of both Estonia and Latvia, contributing to the oversight of fiscal policy in the region.
Appointed Deputy Governor in July 2011, Ülo Kaasik's term has been extended twice, in 2016 and 2021, reflecting the central bank’s continued trust in his leadership. Prior to this role, he served as Head of the Monetary Policy Department and Head of the Economic Policy Division at Eesti Pank. His experience also includes serving as an economic advisor to the Estonian Prime Minister.
Ülo Kaasik holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Tartu and a master’s degree in National Economy from Tallinn University of Technology.
