Helen Tartes-Babkina is a psychotherapist, art therapist, psychologist, and has the right of psychoanalysis with both adults and children. Helen has applied art therapies primarily in her work with children and young people since 2002. For adult clients, Helen mostly offers psychoanalytic psychotherapy and psychoanalysis, which is only verbal therapy.

Helen has extensive experience of working with children and young people with special needs and has worked for many years as a psychotherapist-art therapist in rehabilitation and rehabilitation teams. Now, however, Helen works as a therapist in her own private practice, where Victim Support and Children's Home has been referring children and young people who have survived trauma for many years. This has given Helen valuable experience of trauma work, and self-improvement has been a particular focus for her in recent years.

Helen uses a psychoanalytic approach to her art therapy, believing that through self-expression (verbal/art) and self-analysis, it is possible to achieve developmental change, release inner tensions, and discover the connections between one's emotions and behaviour - thereby achieving functioning relationships and a better quality of life.

Creator of change

Helen Tartes-Babkina urges everyone to notice changes in a child's behaviour and to listen to their silent appeals. A child cannot help himself or herself, so it is up to all of us to notice and alert the child in need. There are many reasons why victims remain silent. Firstly, it is difficult for them to talk about their trauma because of the stigma attached to it, as it is an intimate subject. In addition, they have also been threatened and instilled by the abuser that no one believes them. And so the person goes into seclusion and doesn't talk to anyone about what happened.
