Dr. Volker Sittinger

Volker Sittinger is head of the Diamond-based Systems and CleanTech department at Fraunhofer IST, where he develops CVD, ALD and PVD processes for large-area functional coatings. He formerly worked as a research scientist at the Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH).

His research focuses on scalable coating technologies for diamond-based layers, energy-related systems such as photovoltaic and battery components, and sensor platforms including MEMS and gas sensors, as well as photo- and electrochemical processes for air and water treatment. He has led several industry-oriented R&D projects on large-area deposition and translational process development.

He has co-authored scientific publications and contributed to the transfer of advanced thin film processes into pilot-scale manufacturing environments.
