Dr. Marit Kauk-Kuusik
Marit Kauk-Kuusik is a tenured Associate Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Photovoltaic Materials at Tallinn University of Technology, where she has also led the Photovoltaic Materials Research Group; she earned her PhD in materials science from TalTech in 2006.
Her research focuses on photovoltaic and semiconductor materials, particularly the synthesis, characterization and optimization of kesterite- and related thin-film and monograin powder absorbers for solar energy applications.
Dr. Kauk-Kuusik has made significant contributions to the development and fundamental understanding of earth-abundant multinary compound photovoltaic materials, as evidenced by a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in leading journals. Her research has resulted in intellectual property, including innovations related to monograin layer technology as well as photovoltaic materials and device concepts, supporting the translation of research toward practical solar energy applications. She has led and contributed to multiple national and international research projects and is an experienced supervisor and lecturer, actively fostering expertise in materials science and renewable energy.
