Prof. Eugene Kotomin
Ph D (1975), Dr habil. Phys. (1992), full member of Latvian Academy of Sciences (2011), currently-- senior scientist in ISSP UL.
Graduated from Latvian University in 1971, served as a visiting professor in Canada, Denmark, Germany, Kazakstan. He has numerous International collaborations.
Main research interests: functional materials for energy applications, nanomaterials, theoretical materials science, first principles calculations of defects in solids, radiation defects, kinetics of bimolecular reactions and radiation-induced processes in materials for fusion reactors.
F.Cander (1997) and E.Silinsh (2023) prizes in physics from Latvian Academy of Sciences. Authors of 520 research papers, Hirsh index 55, with 13000+ citations. According to a leading academic platform for researchers “research.com” release in 2023, he has been ranked #1 in Latvia in the field of (theoretical) chemistry: https://research.com/scientists-rankings/chemistry/lv
Currently he is PI in two M-ERA-NET projects and Latvian Council of Science grant. Member of the Organizing committee of the International conference “Radiation effects in Insulating solids” (REI).
