Prof. Anatoli I. Popov

Anatoli Popov is a Leading Researcher at the Institute of Solid State Physics, University of Latvia, and a guest professor at Chongqing University of Posts and Telecommunications. He has held visiting research and professor positions worldwide, including Germany, France, Spain, Denmark, Japan, and Kazakhstan. He earned his Dr. Phys. (1990) from the Latvian Academy of Sciences and M.Sc. (1984) from Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

His research focuses on radiation-induced defects and transport phenomena in wide-bandgap materials, combining theory with advanced spectroscopy at large-scale facilities. He leads European, bilateral, and national projects, including EUROfusion Enabling Research, has authored 400+ publications with 7,000+ citations (H=45), chaired LUMDETR-2024, ICDIM-2024, and EMRS symposia, and serves on boards at CERN, DESY, and EUROfusion.
