Johan Magnusson

Johan Magnusson is a Team Leader and Senior Expert at the European Commission, working within the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy in Brussels. He is part of Unit D.1, which focuses on Interreg programmes and EU macro-regional strategies.

Since joining DG REGIO in 2009, Magnusson has played a key role in shaping and evaluating macro-regional strategies - frameworks that connect EU-wide policy objectives with regional and local stakeholders. His earlier work within the Commission covered territorial cohesion and urban development, as well as rural development and maritime policy in other departments.

Magnusson also held several senior roles, including Head of Unit positions, within the Swedish public administration.
