Igor Taro

Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Estonia from 25 March 2025. He is a member of the Eesti 200 party, and was a member of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union party from 2015-2018. Igor Taro studied journalism at the University of Tartu from 1999-2002 and graduated from the Moscow State University in 2005 with a degree in journalism. In 2020, he started studying economics at the University of Tartu, majoring in strategic management. 

In 2021, the President of the Republic awarded Taro the Order of the White Star V class. He was awarded the Anne Vabarna Prize for Culture in 2014, the Citizens Day Honorary Badge in 2017, the Order of Merit of the Defence League III class in 2018, the Honorary Badge of the University of Tartu in 2022, as well as the Gold Badge of the Ministry of Defence.

Igor Taro is a member of the Defence League and the Põlvamaa Lasterikkad non-profit association, LC Põlva and the Sakala Fraternity.
