International Course on Leadership and Professional Skills for Early Career Psychiatrists
We are honoured to announce that another edition of the Course on Leadership and Professional Skills for Early Career Psychiatrists, led by Professor Norman Sartorius
and Professor Sir Graham Thornicroft, will be held in Sofia, Bulgaria, on 15-17 June, 2026.
The Course is organised by the GIP-Sofia and National Centre of Public Health and Analyses in Bulgaria.
The Course will aim at developing the participants’ leadership and professional skills. It is a great opportunity to learn from two of the world’s most prominent and influential psychiatrists on how to make presentations and posters, read and write scientific articles, prepare a proposal for a project, produce a curriculum vitae, chair a session and also how to deal with other challenges that young psychiatrists face.
The mandatory requirement to attend the Course is proficiency in the English language. Attendance is limited to 16 participants.
Application process:
1. In order to apply, please submit the following documents:
Curriculum vitae
Motivational letter
Signed recommendation letter from your institution certifying that you are a psychiatry trainee or within 5 years of completing your specialist training (maximum age of 40).
4. Fluency of English will be confirmed via online video-calls, before selection
5. The final participants will be selected by Professor Norman Sartorius and Professor Sir Graham Thornicroft.

Date: 15-17 June, 2026 Location: Sofia, Bulgaria Accommodation: The organisers are unable to provide the participants with accommodation, however, we can assist you in finding affordable housing. Participation Fee: The course is free for the selected participants.
