ENMESH 2026 Conference Code of Conduct

The ENMESH 2026 Conference is committed to providing a safe, respectful, inclusive, and professionally enriching environment for all participants. This Code of Conduct (hereinafter, Code) applies to all conference attendees, speakers, organizers, sponsors, exhibitors, volunteers, and staff.

1. Purpose

ENMESH is an academic forum for mental-health service research and evaluation. We are committed to safety, respect, equity and the free exchange of scientific ideas. Harassment, intimidation, discriminatory conduct or targeted political intimidation of individuals will not be tolerated.

2. Scope

This Code applies to all event spaces (sessions, networking, social events), pre/post conference courses and events, online channels associated with ENMESH 2026, and pre/post event communications.

3. Expected Behaviour

• Treat everyone with dignity and respect.
• Engage constructively in discussions, respect confidentiality, and avoid disrupting sessions (shouting or talking over speakers, causing any obstacles for other attendees to hear or see the sessions, publicly targeting any individual(s), causing any psychological or physical harm to attendee(s), etc.) .
• Support an environment where speakers can present and attendees can listen without interruption.
• Respect academic freedom and the distinction between a speaker’s research and the actions of states/organisations.
• Refrain from personal attacks, targeted naming, doxxing, hate speech, or calls for exclusion based on nationality, political opinion, personal beliefs, religion, gender, sexual orientation, race, ethnicity or disability.
• Make protest or political expression only in designated areas and times (see §8).
• Follow instructions from session chairs, Code of Conduct officer, and venue security personnel.

4. Unacceptable Behaviour

• Threats, intimidation, harassment, psychological or physical violence and aggression.
• Targeting an individual for their nationality, race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, disability, institutional affiliation, or perceived political position.
• Disrupting sessions (shouting, sustained interruption) so they cannot proceed.
• Recording or broadcasting an individual without their consent in a way that can cause harm.
• Posting personal identifying information (doxxing) or calling for reprisals on social media.

5. Responsible Use of Technology

Recording, photographing, or distributing session content requires presenter consent. Cyberharassment or abusive online behavior is prohibited.

6. Reporting & Support

• Organizers commit to ensuring accessibility, offering support staff, and maintaining confidentiality while acting on complaints.
• Organizers appoint a Code of Conduct officer (person/team) reachable by phone/WhatsApp/email during the event. Contact details will be available on the website www.enmesh2026.eu.
• Reports may be submitted anonymously and will be treated seriously.

7. Consequences for Misconduct

Possible actions include warnings, removal from conference activities, temporary or permanent restriction of badge access, exclusion from future ENMESH events, institutional notification, and, where required by law or safety concerns, contact with local law enforcement authorities or security personnel. Measures will depend on the severity and context of the behaviour.

8. Protest & Freedom of Expression

• Peaceful protest is allowed in designated outdoor area(s) and at designated times that do not interfere with sessions. Organisers will publish protest rules and a location in pre-event materials.
• Public statements are welcome on conference themes and during designated moderated sessions, provided they do not target any individual attendee.

9. Identification, Privacy & Data

• Individuals who have credible safety concerns or wish to limit their public identification may request that their name, country/affiliation, or both be withheld from the website, social media, and/or their printed badge. Requests must be submitted at least 2 (two) weeks before the event; those received later will be accommodated as soon as possible, subject to available resources.
• Photo/video: attendees who do not wish to be photographed may request a “no-photo” badge sticker at the registration desk onsite the event. Media will be briefed.
• Privacy-related adjustments may be requested at any time by contacting the Conference Secretariat at info@enmesh2026.eu or by visiting the Info Desk on-site. Requests will be handled confidentially and, if reasonable and feasible, implemented as promptly as operationally possible.
• The event will comply with applicable data protection laws; data collection and retention are limited to necessary for event operation.

10. Amendments and Revisions

ENMESH reserves the right to amend or update this Code of Conduct at any time should circumstances require it. Any changes will be communicated to participants as soon as reasonably possible.

11. Affirmation

Compliance with the ENMESH 2026 Code of Conduct is a condition of participation. Participants agree to the Code when registering for the event.
