Henrik Roonemaa

Henrik Roonemaa works in communications in the public sector, where one of his key focus areas is the impact of technology, especially artificial intelligence, on Estonian society, the state, and everyday life. He has more than 20 years of experience in the technology sector and has developed a strong understanding of how emerging technologies shape organizations, economy and societal processes.

Over the course of his long career, Henrik has been closely involved in the development of Estonia’s technology landscape, witnessing both the emergence of new solutions and their rapid decline. He has worked for Estonia’s largest media outlets, at Digi magazine, and was the founder of the Geenius.ee portal. In addition, he has spent many years explaining technology to the wider public through podcasts and public discussions.

He views artificial intelligence to be one of the most transformative technologies of our time, with its real societal impact still emerging and the need for thoughtful, responsible use becoming increasingly critical.
